Helping the community, one manicure at a time

Anna has a passion for making others feel beautiful. She wants to help people in her Ngaruawahia community feel pampered, glamourous and confident. She has found a way to do this – through doing manicures and nail art for food.

Anna has been building a microenterprise ‘Annalistic Nails’ over the last few years of lockdown. Her business is centered around the concept of nails for food. Customers can receive a gel polish manicure and nail art in exchange for a small fee and five items of non-perishable food. She gives the food items she receives to Ngaruawahia Community House which goes towards their kai pantry for food parcels.

After her accident, Anna was supported by the Ngaruawahia Community, she wants to give back to her tight-knit community whanau. She loves putting a smile on people’s faces and being creative with her nail art.

Anna has over 200 clients including women, men and children of all abilities. Alongside greatly helping her community, her business has helped her to grow her social skills, independence and positive thinking.

Anna has big goals for her business. She wants to increase the number of food donations to Ngaruawahia Community House, make people in her community feel more beautiful and continue to develop her skills.

Anna loves to help her community by making people feel glamourous and confident with manicures and helping with providing food parcels for those that need a helping hand.

A big congratulations to Anna, one of our successful Fund for Good recipients. Fund for Good is an innovation programme helping to fund special projects and dreams of Manawanui customers which can’t be funded elsewhere. We are so pleased to be able to help Anna grow her micro enterprise Annalistic Nails and continue her amazing mahi in the Ngaruawahia community.
