Jessica is passionate about creating products that help people feel more comfortable, confident, and like themselves.
She runs a small home-based business called Dignity in Stitches, where she makes handmade covers for medical devices such as insulin pumps, feeding tubes, and IV fluids. These covers transform something clinical into something more personal, helping people express their individuality while managing their health needs.
With support from Fund for Good, Jessica was able to upgrade her sewing setup with new equipment, including specialised sewing machines and a height-adjustable workspace tailored to her needs.
The new equipment has made a significant difference to how she works day to day. Designed to handle thicker fabrics and reduce the amount of manual effort required, it allows Jessica to sew more comfortably and independently.
Since receiving the funding, Jessica has already put her new workspace into action. She has completed an adaptive apron for one client and repaired a custom pillowcase, demonstrating the practical impact of having the right tools and equipment.
Her setup now includes air-threading technology, which helps feed thread through the machine more easily. This removes the need for fiddly manual threading and makes sewing more accessible, especially on days when fine motor tasks are more challenging.
Jessica is also preparing to begin a Bachelor of Social Health and Wellbeing and has temporarily closed her sewing waitlist while she focuses on this exciting next chapter.
Fund for Good has helped Jessica create a workspace that works for her, making sewing more accessible and enabling her to continue doing what she loves. Even in these early stages, the new equipment is already making a difference - not only in how she works, but in what she can create for others.
From custom-made pieces to everyday repairs, Jessica's work continues to provide practical, personal, and meaningful support. With the right tools and a workspace designed around her needs, she is building a future that works for her while continuing to make a positive difference in the lives of others.
